Who would have thought buying 4 plates at a Thrift store would have spawned a whole chocolate extravaganza?
This table used to have little chocolates sprinkled all over it, but every time I saw this table I had to have one.
I had to pop a delicious little heart shaped dream in my mouth.
You will not have to finish reading this post to find out that I ate every
single piece within 3 days.
I haven't taken the time to figure out if it was in celebrating the wonderful
news that my youngest son is moving MUCH closer to home and now he will only be about 2 hours away!
Close enough for hugs, day trips, birthday surprises, holidays…
I'll take it!
or celebrating that after many nasty emails and phone calls. I finally told
my Mother In Law to stick it, and stop berating her Son.
Literally...
I finally hit my breaking point and told a 72 year old woman to knock it off?
in my Mom voice, no less...
you know that "Mom Tone" that says
“I have had enough of this”.
Do you know how hard that was for me? to tell an senior citizen to knock it
off?
But let me tell you, it felt damn good! Now before I get emails about how I
should have tried other avenues, let me say this:
This woman never has one nice thing to say TO her son, not one. it's all
guilt and anger and to be totally honest; pettiness.
That's all she has and we have tried to guide her into getting involved in
her community, find friends, hobbies. Anything to fill her time with happiness
and optimism and what the future holds for her, and everything we did was never
enough.
So when she started emailing me with that (ok I'll say it) CRAP.....I set her
straight and flat out told her she was being highly in-appropriate and I wasn't going
to tolerate that attitude about a man that I lay my head down with every night.
Needless to say it worked and she apologized....so I am celebrating. Celebrating the peace and quiet.
Celebrating no more 20 emails a day of negativity.
Celebrating that one of my "Chitlins" is moving close enough to hug on the
spur of the moment.
Now one of these two things may change in the future, but for now, I'm celebrating.
with Chocolate...
Now where is chocolate cake recipe I stashed away.....
XO,
Christine
