Do you know how many times I have walked through this entry and stopped noticing that I never updated the trim molding from the kitchen to the dining room?
Probably hundreds of times... And now after doing it I wanna tackle the rest of the house. Especially the living room! But before I run to the home improvement store without any regard to what exactly is in my bank account, let me post this one because you and I both know I will forget.
I mean, it even got mentioned on my Hometalk post when it went viral on their Facebook page. And as soon as the commenter (who was very polite about it) said something I was like
ohhh yeah...ferr got bout it
Until now!
So after my latest weirdo magnet episode (you can read that here if ya missed it) Hubby pulled the old yellowed trim off
and down in the basement I was busy putting three coats of pure white on each piece that I bought at ReStore.
The previous owner sure loved pine didn't he.
I'm guessing he had no idea how much it would yellow after 40 years....lol
Hubby just broke out the sander and took the door casing down to bare wood. It only took him maybe 30 minutes.
The old casing is in a pile downstairs. I now call that scrap.
I feel like I lucked out finding this trim because it is pretty substantial in depth but the thickness or width fits perfectly all around the door. and I had to be careful due to the kitchen cabinet being so darn close.
and here it is!
Now to me...this looks
Much better!
XO,
Christine
