Lake County Master Garden Walk - House 2
This is the second home on the Lake County Indiana Master Garden Walk that I got to tour and it was the one that stands out the most to me. Take a tour with me and hopefully the attention to color, detail and texture will come across the camera lens as it did in person.
The entrance into the backyard gave you such a greeting with the use of this arbor or trellis. As soon as I saw it, I could not wait to see what was on the other side.
It might have also been the gorgeous purple trailer growing along it. I was so anxious to get farther into the yard I didn't get a closeup of it. It looks like Clematis, but I might be wrong. Below is definitely what I call a must "have in" any yard. I have no idea where I'd put it but who cares. You know me I buy plants then create space for them afterwards. I should have called my blog the backwards gardener. I forgot the name of this tree but the peeling bark makes it easy to Google for a name.
My home is about 3/4 of an acre, so using that as a measuring stick I would guess this property to be one acre or maybe a tad bigger. The red bridge could be seen from the arbor on the side of this gardeners home.
It just drew you right to it!
I loved the way she had thought it out. It looked to me that she had shaded it without the threat of tree leaves constantly falling into her gorgeous pond. Which I would imagine to be a maintenance nightmare if that happened weekly! She had found a amazing balance of sun and shade for her aquatic plants and koi.
I don't even feel the urge to mention how peaceful the sound was, I'm sure you already know. This pathway was you got to walk into after leaving the bridge. It took you into a completely shaded woodsy area that I didn't want to leave but definitely felt inspired to try and copy. This is an urban lot people! You didn't even know she had neighbors let alone could see them.
Another must have, so if I keep this up Greg will not have to use the riding lawnmower anymore to cut grass. He'll need a pair of scissors.
That's it for house #2. There are 3 more homes to show so stay tuned!
