Lake County Indiana Master Garden Walk - House 3
Welcome friends! I hope you're ready for the third house on my Lake County Master Garden Tour. Just to do a quick recap, there were approximately 8 houses on the tour and I made it to 5, so 3 were skipped by me due to parking issues, heat and a hungry tummy.
Upon parking at this one you could clearly see that this property was large. I am bad at guessing lot sizes but think at least 4 acres. We were told to avoid the garden around the home as it was private but we could stroll over to the lake and the property owners business to see the gardens there.
I freely admit to being perturbed by that. It hit me right then after going on two of these "County" master garden walks, that there are two types of tours by "gardeners". One was a open arms welcome to my yard, you and I are now friends, and the other was a more reserved, protected type of garden tour. It made me wonder if anything bad had happened to make them concerned about doing a garden tour and how sad that was. Honestly? I walked over to the lake took a few snaps and left. I did not venture down to their commercial building to see the rest. I had a feeling someone would be handing out business cards for the contractor to drum up business. My instincts were telling me to just enjoy this part and move on.
So I followed them!
I hope I am not jading you against this beautiful property because from what I saw; it was very professionally landscaped.
They did a great job with color and texture.
I saw a lot of Penstemon and Hydrangeas that are in my gardens , so I guess I have good taste.
Huge boulders helped create this tall berm that screened a portion of this man made pond. You know how I love using rock in the garden.
